Welcome to the Ravenswood Music Academy!

Our Mission

  • The Ravenswood Music Academy creates an environment where all students from any age can enjoy making music for a lifetime by excelling in violin, viola, cello, bass or piano. Students are taught to play by ear, read music and improvise in many styles from the very beginning. We incorporate elements of the Suzuki Method as well as
Mark O’Connor’s String Method and more. We create a nurturing atmosphere that encourages children to play their instrument daily, and have fun doing it! This is accomplished through complementary pedagogical approaches, private classes, group classes, and numerous performance opportunities.
  • Ravenswood Music Academy uses solfege (Do Re Mi)
and rhythm syllables to help students improve their imitation, with recalling music inside their head,
and eventually with sight reading. All students have
a weekly private and weekly group class. The private
class makes sure that the student masters each
step; the group class covers theory, repertory and
the fun of music-making with friends.

Our Classes

  • Ravenswood Music Academy offers a variety
of music lessons and classes for all ages.
We take pride in the fact that our teachers
incorporate various methods and pedagogies and
all hold high level degrees in music and teaching.
  • Classes are offered in 10 week semesters:

Fall Semester starts Monday, October 3rd
and runs through the week of December 5th.

Spring Semester starts Monday, February 6th
and runs through the week of May 28th.
