- The Ravenswood Music Academy creates an environment where
all students from any age can enjoy making music for a lifetime by excelling in violin, viola, cello, or piano. Students are taught to play
by ear, read music and improvise in many styles from the very beginning. We incorporate elements of the Suzuki Method as well
as Mark O’Connor’s String Method and more. We create a nurturing atmosphere that encourages children to play their instrument daily,
and have fun doing it! This is accomplished through complementary pedagogical approaches, private classes, group classes, and
numerous performance opportunities.
- Ravenswood Music Academy uses solfege (Do Re Mi) and rhythm syllables to help students improve their imitation, with recalling music inside their head, and eventually with sight reading. All students have a weekly private and weekly group class. The private class makes sure that the student masters each step; the group class covers theory, repertory and the fun of music-making with friends.
